Today I got to go to Nara and see a huuuuuuge temple. Also, the city is literally filled with deer that just run wild. They’re a tourist attraction, so they’ve become tame from people feeding them constantly.
The first time I saw one of the deer it was like “…”, because honestly, I’ve never just seen a deer sit there next to a highway. There are little wafer crackers that many vendors sell, called sembei, that the deer like a lot. Also fed some Koi in the pond.
Today was an extremely busy day, so people were everywhere, proving that Japan is definitely one of the most crowded places. A lot of foriegners too, but somehow none of the white people who usually visit Japan really impress me. Grown up Japan geeks. (Ha. Ha. Ha. I can see my future now.) It was extremely busy though, my host mother said it wasn’t usually like this, and even she was surprised.
For lunch I had a beef patty that was part of a traditional Japanese meal. It was pretty good, but I didn’t really like the seaweed, egg, or soy soup. Yoshinori was complaining about it, he wanted something much more contemporary. I already knew I’d have to eat some sort of traditional meal, so I was just glad we went somewhere with beef.
When Yoshinori and I were waiting for my host mother to finish shopping for dinner, we were just standing in the station, and I took the time to study the style of guys. I still have near $70 to spend on clothes, minds well get a good idea of what I want to look like as far as Japanese fashion goes. Japanese guys make me really jealous though, it seems like they all come out skinny and can make these far out outfits look good. I’ll have to find something that I can look good in. Japanese fashion is actually interesting because it’s so different than American fashion. Plus, all guys love fashion here, because girls like guys with good fashion sense.
Of course, the day’s highlight was seeing a display Wii and getting to play the PlayStation 3. Neither have been released yet, and the latter was awesome. In fact, I put a Youtube video of it up here. Pretty awesome. I’m sure a lot of people are jealous now. Yay.
Yesterday was me doing nothing and being lethargic, so nothing to report there. And tomorrow I’m REALLY looking forward to going to the BBQ with Yudai and sleeping over at his house!
