My letter was published

Step one in world domination: completed.

Heh, I am pretty proud of myself though.  Mainly for the fact that the two men I addressed get to read it, not really that I thought it was all that amazing.  Thanks for everyone who participated in the great debate via Facebook.

Oh, and by the way Minnesotans: FEBRUARY 5TH!  CAUCUS!  BE THERE!  (Obama needs you!)

You’ve got it all wrong (congrats?)

The American political system is flawed.  Is it beyond salvage?  Possibly.  Why have we not heard more about Kucinich, Gravel, Paul?  Because our Media is corrupt.  Media’s job (and only job) is to advocate for the people.  They have failed in that duty.  Instead they have made news a hugely profit-based venture.  Can I even express how corrupt and sad this is?  We have conglomerates owning our news stations.  All of them.  Instead of helping us get the information we should be getting, they’re putting shit on our television.  Yes.  SHIT.  We do not give a fuck about how celebrities are doing.  We need to know what’s going around in the world around us.

It’s this sort of atmosphere that has helped create such an ignorant country, one that is willing to stand behind a war that was based on bad intelligence and muddled motives.  It is this sort of atmosphere that has provoked our public to not support our fellows, but instead seek an end result that is best for themselves.  It is this sort of atmosphere that has caused us to put misunderstood religious beliefs into a political system that should never have to contend with them.

Congratulations average American.  You’ve failed your duty to your country.  Instead of caring about your neighbor, you care about yourself.  Instead of seeking out the knowledge that you should, you have contented yourself to mindlessly indulge in entertainment.  Instead of holding your politicians accountable for the wrongs they have committed against our very world, you let them go and blindly follow.  Instead of advocating what’s good for the country, you doggedly defend your parties positions and make it an A vs B situation.

This is why we’re going into a recession.  This is why we’re losing world power.  This is why we so desperately need a president to lead us as we enter this new technological age.

It’s now gone beyond Bush’s fault, beyond Congress’s misguided legislation, beyond all government blame.  For the American public can now shoulder this guilt together.  And if you don’t understand what I’m talking about, if you’ll deny what I’m talking about, open your eyes.  I’ll admit, with your eyes shut you can’t see anything bad, but a blind man about to walk into a ditch is still going to fall, no matter how happy he appears for those last few seconds on his feet.

Wake up.

Hey-yo, did you hear?

Scientologists think Jesus was not only homosexual, but also a blatant pedophile prone to bouts of rage.

Article VIII out of the writings of Hubbard or something.  Scientology is the absolutely craziest cult on earth.  Yes, I do believe it needs to be stopped.  They’ve done so many shady things and there are so many deaths related to them…  it’s just scary.

Scientology is bad.  Just remember that kids.

Letter to the Beacon Editor (UNRATED EDITION)

I will submit this to the Beacon, but I’ll also be toning it down because it’s rather harsh and biting.  But hey, if they’re going to be blatantly ignorant about subjects and then pass it off as so called “good writing”, well, that’s just not going to fly.  Without further adieu, here it is:  (CF readers will get this- no one else will really)

———-

Dear Editors,

What could possibly be the reason to impose limits on how many letters one can write to the editor?  I would answer my own question for the benefit of some people who may not understand yet: it gets dull week after week.  I wholeheartedly agree with J B Anthony in his suggestion that this would be taken to the internet.  We are  fortunate to live in a time when one can create a website for absolutely nothing and get their opinions out.  With no restrictions on how often you can write and a huge potential readership, what more could you ask for?  Especially for things that do not pertain so much to our town as our country and the world that lies outside.

One of the problems I see in some of these letters is the fact the author cannot overcome their own perceived ingenuity.  I’m sorry Mr. Byrne, but this is a small puddle and if you had experience with anything outside I don’t personally think you’d have such a big ego, nor the same political views.  I’ve been to Japan.  South Korea.  Singapore.  Mexico.  Canada.  In the grand scheme of things feeding yourself bits of congratulatory wit only serves to set yourself apart as someone who cannot look past their own nose to the people who have not spent their entire life in a white farming community.  In fact I’ve seen quite a few excellent letters to the editor and you’re not only praising yourself, you’re disregarding and disrespecting others (whether you mean to or not).

And, ah, the subject of murdering unborn children.  While I do tend to view things more liberally, I’m not quite Pro-Choice.  I’m not quite Pro-Life though either, because as a male, I cannot bear children (surprising, no?).   Therefore I’d hesitate to make any judgment as I have never had my stomach engorged with that of a fetus.  Have you ever carried a child Mr. Byrne?  You seem to be an expert in what women should do.  I like to make sure I don’t get bloated after a meal by eating too much, so I know I wouldn’t be a very happy person if I had to carry that feeling multiplied by 100 for nine months.  But I digress, I’m sure some men might know about carrying a little extra weight comfortably.  This is America after all.  And if I may suggest, sir, I feel more for the soldiers we’ve lost in Iraq and their grieving families.  I’m not going to compare numbers though, I don’t frankly care about statistics.  Life is life.  My point is this: you cannot pardon a man who is responsible for the needless deaths of our young adults simply because he “protects” unborn children.  And yet, he didn’t outlaw abortion, did he?  It still continues no matter what you think of our President.

I have a suggestion now directly for the Beacon.  I propose we do some ‘down and dirty’ investigative reporting.  Let us kidnap a Mr. LoPresto in the dead of night, strip him, photograph him, the publish the results.  Since it seems that this is not torture, he should be able to stand the simple humiliation.  We all know he’s withstood his writings being published publically.  Frankly if anyone still thinks that Iraq had a connection to terrorists they have been completely and totally ignoring the media for at least the past 4 years.  First it was “weapons of mass destruction” that we started the war for (but there were none) and then the term “War on Terror” started to be bandied about.  Well, congrats to Bush’s public relations.  The masses ate it up.  The September 11th attacks had nothing, and will never have anything, to do with Iraq.  I’m sorry that you apparently didn’t do your research, but excuse is not going to fly if you’re willing to keep the same lies going.  The logic in the quote you started your letter with is greatly flawed, you’ve just proven it yourself.  No matter how many times you write about the Al Qaeda and Iraq War connections, they’re just not going to simply appear to justify your points.

Personally, I don’t advocate the right or the left.  I advocate intelligence.  I advocate information.  I advocate the truth.  It just happens that the people who are blatantly in the wrong happen to be coincidently on the right.  I suggest writers check their wit at the door and bring some knowledge for us to ponder over.  Do we want to continue to be a nation of ignorance, acceptors of half truths and smoke in mirrors?  This may be the point Mr. Byrne was looking for, I’m sure an educated society could make an educated choice on abortion.  Or war.  Or writing letters to the editors.

Yours truly,

Paul *******

I’m ready to clear up a few things

Filed under: Back Home, GAY, Rant, School — Tags: , , — Paul @ 3:22 pm

1) I’m gay.  Honestly, I don’t even see how this is a big issue anymore.  This isn’t some choice I made when I woke up one morning, this isn’t being a pervert, this is who I am.  I am Caucasian.  I have dirty blond hair.  I have green eyes.  I am gay.  People are people and love is love.  I don’t believe on discrimination based on anything.

2) I’m switching schools.  Why would I do that when I have only one semester left?  Because I need a new environment.  I’ve been going through a sever depression from, well, a long time ago.  I went from being an A/B student to getting mostly Ds now.  I need a place in which I can work in a less stressful place.  So I’m going to a charter school which focuses on independent study and where I can work on my Japanese.  Believe it or not, depression can be pretty hard to deal with and debilitating.

If anyone wants to discuss me being gay, contact me.  Not my parents.  This is just who I am and it has nothing to do with them.  It seems rather silly that anyone would think that, but some do.  I also do not believe that homosexuality is a sin.  The Bible can be interpreted in a myriad of ways.  Christians should see that they base their beliefs off of the New Testament, and wonder of wonders, Jesus said nothing about being gay.  And if we’re going by the old testament, looks like having concubines, multiples wives, selling girls for slaves, etc are all now legal.  But the most important fact is that people really have no right to force their moral beliefs on others.  I can be who I want to, and you can too.  It’s the joy of being in America.

Some people who found out about this via my Facebook account handled things badly.  I’m not even going to mince words or cover up the truth.  My family was deeply offended and so was I.  Thank you to the family members that have been overwhelmingly supportive through what has been a difficult time for me.  I hope others will gain some understanding for people who are just a bit different than they are.

And to CFHS students, I’ll miss some of you a lot.  And some of you I think need to grow up.

I suppose I should address some things…

…and I think I just might do that.  When I find a way to put what I want to say eloquently and as not to offend people, even if they wouldn’t take the same precautions.

Probably a good indicator of which way the iPod’s success will eventually go too.  Sorry Jobs, your company’s getting a bit too cool!  Teenagers will eventually seek something more original.

Anyways, I would also like to tag this post with some political tidbits.  I love Obama.  He is awesome.  I really hope he wins the election in November.  And of course there are rampant rumors of Secret Service beefing up protection because of possible threats to his life, but I hope those are unfounded.  I would be devastated if something were to happen.  I think he offers a refreshing hope for this country (considering he’s a mainstream candidate).  As far as the little people go, Gravel and Kucinich forever!

As a closing note, I’d like to mention that the email forward that says Obama won’t say the pledge is FALSE.  Yes, that’s right, some of you argued with me and backed up your opinion with an URBAN LEGEND.  (You know who you are dear family members <3)  I check things out.

Zune breaks into mainstream…

A lot of you who frequent my blog know that I love to write about my favorite MP3 playing underdog, the Zune.  Now that school is back in session, I’ve seen a surprising number of people with them!  Not the sexy new generation though…the, um, older version.  Which I don’t really like.  But that friends, is beside the point!  The whole Zune philosophy revolves around the ability to share music, pictures, and podcasts.  Now there are actually people in my two to share things with!  What a surprise!  I honestly didn’t think that there would be as many new Zune owners as there are.  Well done Microsoft.  I’m actually liking my Zune80 more as I find out more little features.  Hope that it doesn’t get passed over in Microsoft’s CES presentation…

Oh.  And I ran out of gas today.  And had to wait an hour for my dad to bring me new gas.  Fun.

(One more thing, the rumor at the moment is that Obama and Huckabee won.  Obama…YAY!  On the Republican side though, take my word for it, Huckabee will kill this country.  I am not even joking folks.  He will kill this nation dead.)
