I’m ready to clear up a few things

Filed under: Back Home, GAY, Rant, School — Tags: , , — Paul @ 3:22 pm

1) I’m gay.  Honestly, I don’t even see how this is a big issue anymore.  This isn’t some choice I made when I woke up one morning, this isn’t being a pervert, this is who I am.  I am Caucasian.  I have dirty blond hair.  I have green eyes.  I am gay.  People are people and love is love.  I don’t believe on discrimination based on anything.

2) I’m switching schools.  Why would I do that when I have only one semester left?  Because I need a new environment.  I’ve been going through a sever depression from, well, a long time ago.  I went from being an A/B student to getting mostly Ds now.  I need a place in which I can work in a less stressful place.  So I’m going to a charter school which focuses on independent study and where I can work on my Japanese.  Believe it or not, depression can be pretty hard to deal with and debilitating.

If anyone wants to discuss me being gay, contact me.  Not my parents.  This is just who I am and it has nothing to do with them.  It seems rather silly that anyone would think that, but some do.  I also do not believe that homosexuality is a sin.  The Bible can be interpreted in a myriad of ways.  Christians should see that they base their beliefs off of the New Testament, and wonder of wonders, Jesus said nothing about being gay.  And if we’re going by the old testament, looks like having concubines, multiples wives, selling girls for slaves, etc are all now legal.  But the most important fact is that people really have no right to force their moral beliefs on others.  I can be who I want to, and you can too.  It’s the joy of being in America.

Some people who found out about this via my Facebook account handled things badly.  I’m not even going to mince words or cover up the truth.  My family was deeply offended and so was I.  Thank you to the family members that have been overwhelmingly supportive through what has been a difficult time for me.  I hope others will gain some understanding for people who are just a bit different than they are.

And to CFHS students, I’ll miss some of you a lot.  And some of you I think need to grow up.

Britney’s Back?

Ok, first I noticed that the Blackout single ‘Gimme More’ was really catchy.  And now ‘Piece of Me’ is even catchier (and has a decent point, at least for being a Spears pop song).  New guilty pleasure, and I may be on my way to buying the CD…  Crazy huh?

School formal was tonight, it went ok.  I went out shopping with Mark all day before that, it wasn’t supposed to be long, but he just had to buy $200 of stuff…  That kid goes through money like nothing else.  Actually it’s his credit card, and his Hungarian parents foot the bill.  I can’t imagine how much longer he will be able to get a bunch of Hollister, Abercrombie, AE, etc stuff before the kabosh is put on his plastic.

But yeah, it turned into a big adventure at Burnsville Center.  Then we drove around looking for an Arbys (even though there’s one in the food court…) and finally found it in Apple Valley.  After that, we went to  Target to check if they had some clay for my project which they didn’t.  So on the way back home I ran into Micheal’s real quick and got some.  No idea if how it’ll work, but hopefully well.

Then I came home for an hour, got ready, and went to Mark’s house to watch a movie.  We wanted Grace and Chris to come but I don’t actually have Grace’s number and Chris was over at her house, and there’s a gazillion people in this town with her last name.  So that fell through, and it was just Mark, his two dogs, a cat missing an eye, and me.  It was pretty fun.  He seems to think that the movie Mr Deeds is the most funny thing ever.  Sometime I’ll have to watch ‘There’s Something About Mary’ with him, THAT is true comedic genius (so is the movie Borat).

After that I went home to pick up my sister while Mark got ready, then we picked him up, then on to the actual formal.  And we were an hour late after all that stuff.  Ohhhh well.  Basically there were a lot of people that I saw and was glad to be around and stuff, but there were a few songs that hit key karaoke memories in Japan which definitely did not put me in a good mood, etc etc.  So I didn’t have the best time, but Sarah seemed to enjoy herself and poor Mark just stood there.  He did dance for the last, like, 15 minutes though.  He’s not really into the dances all that much.  I’m not sure if he would’ve gone unless I told him he had to.

So yep.  Now it’s 2:22AM and I think my parents just got home from their party.  G’night.  I’m sort of tired.

Comings and Goings

So yeah, I’ve been pretty busy this week.  Not feeling 100%, school life is taxing as always, and blah blah blah.

I will run over some of the most important things that have happened this week though.

ACTs.  Did I mention I got a 28?  I might have.  I’m extremely displeased, displeased enough to mention it again even if I already have.  I should have 30 OR BETTER.  I was pretty unprepared for the quickness of the time.  Awww.  I still hit around the 90% ranking in all categories besides one though.  So nice, but not stupendous.  Yep, not happy.

I will share a bit of good news though!  The Zune80 that I’ve been lusting over, especially the ‘Zune Originals’ type has finally been ordered by me <3  This is absolutely exciting because I have been waiting so long.  I ordered a really cool picture to be etched in the back too.  I’ll definitely post pictures when it arrives.

I think there was other stuff.  But I’m tired.  So ‘night all~  (Notice I did not say “y’all”, because I am not a creepo Southerner.  Just kidding!  I love you all down there!)

PS- I just remembered what else I was going to say.  I went to Ashley’s house tonight with Callan and we watched Superbad.  It was really really funny.  Are normal guys that desperate to have sex?  Hmm…  I think it was just a tad over the top throughout.  But I ate a whole HALF PINT of ice cream and now I feel so fat.  I’m just not going to eat tomorrow.

Went down with words too over-dramatic

If anyone gets the song reference, kudos.

I guess what why I’m updating my blog is to ask anyone who’s a part of the ‘Zune Social’ to add me as a friend, because I don’t honestly know many people on it.  So if you’re on it, feel free to add me here.

Anyways, on Friday I went to see Beowulf with some friends.  We were very close to going to the community play, but last minute decision resulted in a cinema trip.  It was pretty weird to see tons of violence, sexual innuendo, and general adult behaviors coming from Polar Express-esque CGI animations.  Actually, Beowulf’s animations are very lifelike (and at times you could forget that it’s actually an animation), moreso than the previews for PE.  I never even watched the actual movie, but I sure did see enough TV commercials for it.  Angelina Jolie was by far the best modeled character out of the lot, but she isn’t seen on screen that much.  However, when she is on screen…you will see a lot of her.  The coolest scene by far though is Beowulf fighting Grendel (an awesome monster) naked.  What a brave man.

And while we’re on the topic of the cinema, I will take a moment to say how disgusted I am at how ‘The Bee Movie’ is getting whored out so much on TV.  It seems like I see at least 10 adverts per day for it, and about half of those are integrated into shows!  It’s getting to a ridiculous point.  No, no amount of advertising is going to save a movie that chose a name like that.  Or chose a racist unfunny actor as its lead voice.  Sorry, I’m just not in with Seinfield.

I really am digging the new Zune software, and I can’t wait until the Zune 80 actually gets majorly stocked…  Awww.

Last week before Thanksgiving!  Yay!  And that, of course, means only two days of school!  What could be better?!  Ok, yeah, sure, the whole week off.  Later~

Kind of bored…

Filed under: Back Home, School, Tech — Tags: , , — Paul @ 10:51 am

Ok, so I’m actually in 2nd hour right now.  I forgot my book again, which means I can’t measure the dimensions for the book cover I’m supposed to be working on.

First of all, the Zune 80 (which I want so … bad) is out of stock.  And the awesome Zune Originals site doesn’t offer it until December.  This is almost unbearable, after I’ve been raving about it and waiting over a month!  Obviously this is just trivial, but yeah.

Oh, and I got a 28 on my ACTs.  My scores were all in the top 10% range, but that’s really disappointing.  If I would’ve stayed in America, I could’ve gotten in the 30-32 range for sure.  This academic year has been kind of difficult coming back and just focusing on stuff.  I’ve gone of solidified my idea to apply to the U of M, so hopefully 28 is acceptable for them.

Class is almost over.  I’m using my last like 5 minutes.  5 more hours left.

Happy Birthday to ME

Ok, so the site was down on my actual birthday.  But I had a really good time.  What did I get?  Lessee… a harddrive from my parents, two cds* from one of my sisters, a shower clock thing from one of my sisters, and a Sidekick case from my last sister.  And also a lot of great gifts from my relatives.  It was a really fun birthday.  At night both sets of grandparents came over and I had a mini-party.  We had rigatoni for dinner (my favorite) and a cake after.  The cake was not vanilla frosting with white cake because the store did not have them in stock.  Actually, they did, but they were all pink.  So my dad improvised and got me chocolate frosting, which turned out to be pretty good anyways. *Boys Like Girls and Santi by The Academy Is…

Today I went to the COLLEGE FAIR.  Which means I got to get out of school for the day and drive up to Minneapolis with my friends.  Actually Kent drove and Jess, Evan, and I all rode with him.  We stayed at the college fair for like an hour before we finished, then we went out to lunch.  Mark was with us, so it was really fun.  But he had to take the bus home, so we brought him back to the convention center and went back to Mall of America.  We had used that parking lot and went up using the Light Rail, which worked out really well.  So we went shopping at MoA for awhile.  Hot Topic was having a really really good sale because it was going out of business or something so I bought two tshirts for only $10, regularly $20 each.  And my FallOutBoy hoodie came in the mail yesterday, so that was good too.

We went to the Apple store at MoA today and all I could think about was getting the Zune80.  I can’t wait until November 13th…  I might get to go to an early preview show that they’re doing in Minneapolis though!  That’d be so cool…

I love…

…the new Zune 2 Microsoft is releasing.  I’ve been looking for a huge-capacity storage MP3/PMP (that’s Portable Media Player, not pimp) and this exactly fits the ticket.  Whether it’s the new design, DRM-free store, slick interface, or the amazing Zune pad…I just love it.  So I’ll be buying the 80GB edition when it launches on November 13th.  Unfortunately, it only comes in black.  That’s just about the only thing I’m going to fault it with.

Sorry I haven’t been updating.  Been really busy with school stuff, homework, etc.  I’m feeling much better and didn’t stay home at all this week, so that bodes very well.  Now I can finish my makeup work and get back in to the NORMAL school schedule!  Tomorrow is also homecoming.  It may be fun, depending on which friends I hang out with.

And uh, yeah, that’s about it.  I had to just put my feedback on the Zune 2 out there, just so Microsoft knows there’s a fairly positive buzz on it.  Some kids were talking about it at school today, so it’s bigger news than I thought.

Oh yeah, and two important dates: October 8th: Driver’s license test!!  I’m so scared!!  October 9th: Birthday!!

Of Movies and Friends

Filed under: Back Home, Re-Adjusting, School, Sick Day — Tags: , , , , , , , — Paul @ 9:45 pm

So last night I went to Ashley’s house to watch some movies and hang out.  Callan was there too.  Originally we were set to see Journey Across the Universe or whatever it’s called, but it wasn’t playing around here.  And there wasn’t anything else interesting either.  So…Cal and Ash decided to rent some movies.  We were going to go to Callan’s house but her dad had business stuff, so we finally decided on Ashley’s house.  I came a bit late, but it was pretty fun.

This morning I couldn’t go to church though.  We still didn’t have water, so it was near impossible, and dad needed to work on the well some more.  It went out awhile ago, and he’s been trying to fix it ever since.  BUT tonight it looks like we got it working tonight!!  Yay!!  I feel like a Geico commercial.  Guess what?  I just saved $2000 on well repair!

So yep.  And Friday I was home sick from school.

What I’m using now

Filed under: Back Home, Excursions, Re-Adjusting, School, Sick Day, Tech — Paul @ 7:34 pm

Just downloaded Flock, and now I’m using it to browse the internet.  Why?  I guess a couple of reasons.  I had already tried it two years ago, but I wasn’t that impressed.  It just didn’t have the integration I was looking for and Firefox was more stable.  Now however, the Flock team has put in some features that really make the browser nice to use.  Not least of which is the Media Toolbar, which is one of the reasons I use this now.  Plus I can update my blog right from my browser, it has a great web clipboard, and YouTube integration.  Flock is cool.  http://flock.com

I had a great Saturday with Katherine and Mark too.  I bought two pair of jeans at Zumiez, and then went to dinner at Applebees with them.

Then yesterday I went to the ‘Johnson Family Picnic’.  It was pretty fun, and I really enjoyed having lasagna for the first time since … a long time.  I also got to see family that I hadn’t seen since before I left for Japan, so that was really nice too!

Good weekend, but I ended up being too tired out to go to school today.  I’m really looking forward to going tomorrow though.  Show off my new jeans ‘n stuff.  Plus I’m getting SAL off the ground this week.

Later~
